Forcing people into degrading roles in other countries continues today as a result of human trafficking. In this, people are deceived or abducted and exploited for sex or cheap labour.

The photograph is a scene from Sonagachi, a red-light district in Kolkata, India. Thousands of women from Bangladesh and Nepal are trafficked every year into India and forced into prostitution in places like Sonagachi.
